The physical scope of the project includes the energy upgrading of the buildings of the following schools:

• Platanias High School
• High School Alikianou High School

of the Municipality of Platanias with actions/interventions, which will lead to the energy upgrade of these buildings with the ultimate goal of saving energy and resources, reducing operating costs and reducing the environmental footprint of CO2.

The building of the Platanias High School is located on the old highway of Kissamos – Chania in the prefecture of Chania in Crete. The building was constructed in 1986 and is two-storey (ground floor and first floor).

The building of the High School – Lyceum Alikianos, built in 1982, is located on the provincial road of Chania – Sougia in the prefecture of Chania in Crete. It consists of a ground floor, first floor and a basement.

The proposed interventions, which are the same for both schools, consist of:

• Installation of a photovoltaic system with energy offsetting (net metering)
• Heat Pump Installation.
• Replacement of existing luminaires with new LED technology.
• Installation of a BEMS energy management system

And additional Thermal Insulation of the Dome at the Platanias High School.

Also under the project will be provided Consultancy Services for energy issues and energy inspections for the buildings of the Platanias High School and the Alikianos High School of the Municipality of Platanias.
