Dr. Triantafyllia (Lia) Nikolaou is a Physicist from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens with postgraduate studies in Energy Production & Management from the National Technical University of Athens and a Ph.D. from the Technical University of Crete in the scientific field of Sustainable Production & Management of Energy & Environmental Systems. From 2008 until 2024, she has worked at the Organization for the Development of Crete S.A. as a Special Scientific Advisor in the development of energy and environmental projects, sustainability – feasibility studies, licensing, business plans for projects, and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects, as well as a Project Manager in numerous co-funded programs – projects related to innovative methodologies for water and energy management with a focus on adaptation to climate change.

Additionally, in 2014-2015, she worked at the Ministry of Environment & Energy as an external scientific advisor responsible for the economic analysis of water uses for the River Basin Management Plans of the Crete & Aegean Islands Water District, contributing to Greece’s harmonization with the Water Framework Directive (2000/60/EC), the formation of the national regulatory framework, and the national strategy regarding the pricing of water services.

Since 2010, she has been participating as a postdoctoral researcher in research programs of the Technical University of Crete and TEI of Crete (now Hellenic Mediterranean University) and is a Scientific Associate in the Laboratory of Circuits, Sensors, and Renewable Energy Sources, School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Technical University of Crete.

Since 2005, she has been an author of international technical books, articles in international journals, and conference proceedings, and a reviewer in scientific journals, while maintaining an active presence as a speaker at conferences, workshops and forums. Since 2018, she has been teaching at the Technical University of Crete and the Hellenic Mediterranean University.
