The physical scope of the Act includes:

The Community Centre of the Municipality of Platanias is a social structure that operates in the Municipal Store of Alikianos, with the three-year funding of its operation from the OP “CRETE 2014-2020”. It is staffed by two employees with a private fixed-term employment contract (PTE), a Social Worker as coordinator and main responsible for the operation of the Centre, and a Psychologist. The purpose of the structure is to further support the Social Service of the Municipality of Platanias in the implementation of social protection policies, and to develop a local reference point for the reception, service and interconnection of citizens with all Social Programmes and Services implemented in the wider area of the Municipality or at national level.

The object of the operation of the structure is the provision of the following social services to 150 beneficiaries:

α) Reception and information of citizens on welfare and social inclusion programmes implemented at local, regional or national level (e.g. Minimum Guaranteed Income/Social Solidarity Income (KEA), programmes of the “European Aid Fund for the Needy”, social structures and services co-financed by the European Social Fund, programmes of the General Secretariat for Lifelong Learning and Youth, etc.). Also, the Support in the process of integration of citizens in the above programs, with a particular obligation of the structure to provide support to citizens during the application process for the “Minimum Guaranteed Income/Social Solidarity Income (KEA)” program, both for the correct completion of the application and for the submission and receipt of the necessary supporting documents.

b) Referral of requests to other structures and services with which the Municipality’s Community Centre develops cooperation. Specifically, citizens’ requests can be referred to. – Agencies responsible for the implementation of programmes of the General Secretariat for Lifelong Learning and Youth.

c) Labour integration of the unemployed, through the cooperation of the Community Centre with the local labour market.

d) Provision of services aimed at improving the standard of living and ensuring the social inclusion of the beneficiaries, such as the following:

– Providing general counselling for labour market integration. – Providing psychosocial counselling and support to children, adults and families.

– Programmes to help create opportunities for young people, in cooperation with the Children’s Advocate and other services and structures. – Organization of events with educational, communicative and social content.

– Mixed actions for socialisation and social inclusion, in particular, but not exclusively, for pupils with disabilities, children with learning difficulties, Roma and migrants.

– Development of a volunteer network to assist the Community Centre, under the guidance and supervision of the Centre’s coordinator.
